Ministry:Many churches are changing with the days in which we live, but it is our belief that God intended for His people to walk the old paths (Jeremiah 6:16). With this in mind, we endeavor to do just that. It is our goal to reach the world with the gospel through the support of home and foreign missions. Sinners are contacted locally through an effort to go into the highways and hedges and compel men to come in. Families are strengthened through sound Bible teaching and preaching. While we enjoy fellowships, church trips and various fun activities for young and old alike, the ministry of the church is treated as serious business in every aspect.Preaching:God chose preaching to save those that will believe, and so we emphasize the preaching of the Word of God. Preaching is supposed to reprove, rebuke, and exhort the hearers (2 Timothy 4:2). The Bible warns that in the last days men would bring in teachers that would tell them what they wanted to hear (2 Timothy 4:3) instead of what they needed to hear. Even though the truth is to be preached without fear or favor of men, it is also to be preached with a spirit of love and compassion.Music:We still often sing the same hymns that have glorified the Lord and blessed the saints down through the years. We do not believe in taking the world's music, putting Christian lyrics to it, and calling it spiritual, nor do we believe that there is a such thing as Christian Rock, Rap, Country, etc. Some modern song writers have written great songs that are used here regularly. However, the time tested Church Hymnal is still used for our congregational singing.Bible:We only use the King James Version of the Bible. There is much debate on this issue. There are some good links on the internet that detail the many reasons for this. However, one main reason for this is that every other version is incomplete. There are verses that are left totally out of them. (click for more)Dress:The scriptures seem to say more about modesty than they do about Heaven. While we receive sinners and visitors dressed many ways, it is scriptural for God's people to keep themselves modestly dressed. It is odd that many people do not mind a dress code at restaurants, work, etc., but when it comes to the House of God, they have a problem. People wear things to many churches now that would not have been allowed on TV 30 years ago. We believe it is a matter of respect and obedience to God.Worship:Down through the years Christians have enjoyed freedom to express their worship and adoration of the Lord in many different ways. Some cry, some praise the Lord out loud, some raise their hand, some say "amen," and so on. It is hard not to show some sort of emotion and excitement when you really see what the Lord has done for you. Some people do not think it is crazy to go to a football game in freezing weather, take your shirt off, paint yourself blue, and scream your head off over the events of a game, but if you cry, shout, raise your hand, or show any emotion over being saved by the grace of God, they think you are a fanatic. We are not charismatic, but neither are we lifeless. Here people do have the freedom to worship the Lord in their own way as long as it is done decently and in order.
